AUTOMATIC SPARE RELEASE AT 11PM - Users who are waiting to reserve a number that will soon be returned to spare now know what time a given number will automatically spare. USERS CAN TRACK STATUS OF SYSTEM ISSUES VIA WEBSITE - The SMS/800 Website now features an online Trouble Reporting System for Resp Orgs and Service Control Point (SCP) operators. Users can track the status on open trouble tickets by clicking on the TRS link from the Resp Org section of the SMS/800 Website. Issues will be assigned a ticket number by the SMS/800 Help Desk and entered into the TRS for Resp Org tracking. Users will be able to view all trouble tickets that may affect them. ...(More)

SMS/800 UPDATED TO REFLECT 7.5% RESERVATION LIMIT SET BY FCC - The SMS/800 will be updated on Oct. 15 to make number reservation thresholds consistent with FCC regulations which limit the quantity of RESERVED numbers a Resp Org may hold to 2000 numbers or 7.5% of the Resp Org’s base of WORKING numbers, whichever is larger. In the past, the SMS/800 only allowed whole number values when setting the reservation threshold, so the system was unable to refuse additional reservations until the Resp Org hit 8%. The SMS/800 Management Team authorized the modification to the SMS/800 to help Resp Orgs automatically maintain compliance with the FCC regulation. ...(More)

NEW SMS/800 TARIFF FILED - The SMS/800 Management Team filed a revised tariff with Transmittal No. 25 on Friday, August 22, 2003. The new tariff includes updated contact information for the Bell Operating Companies and minor text changes to correct errors, update version numbers, and so on. There are no rate changes or process changes included in the tariff filing. The tariff was filed on a streamlined 15-day basis and will go into effect September 6, 2003. ...(More)

CHANGES PLANNED IN RECOVERY OF X.25 INTERFACE MAINTENANCE COSTS - Next year the SMS/800 Management Team plans to adopt a new approach to recovering maintenance costs associated with the X.25 interface. Most of the MGI users and SCP Owners/Operators have adopted the TCP/IP interface, so the SMT plans to recover the cost of ongoing maintenance and support directly from the companies that continue to use the X.25 interface after June 15, 2004. ...(More)

Reduced Service Rates Currently In Effect - New service rates went into effect for most SMS/800 tariff rate elements on June 15. The SMS/800 Management Team filed the revised rates with the Federal Communications Commission on May 30 and the changes became effective this past Sunday. The rate changes reflect both a $17 million drop in required revenue for the SMS/800 and an updated demand forecast and cost analysis. ...(More)
